I Used to Write a Blog
I used to write a blog. Several blogs, actually. That was many years ago, over a decade even. I was not even close to graduating from high school.
A lot has happened since then. I have made and lost a lot of friends, moved to different cities, travelled to many countries, graduated from university, taught a class at university, was employed, became self-employed, made a lot of good decisions, made a lot of mistakes. But enough with the pathos.
I started these blogs because it was fun. Some were mainly design playgrounds, some were collections of funny things I found on the internet, some were trying to be something professional. Eventually, I always found myself at the point where I had to force myself to write entries. And the things I wanted to write about did not seem to fit the themes the blogs have adopted in the meantime. Hence, this time, there are no rules.
When I won’t feel like writing articles, I won’t do it. There’s no theme, the blog might develop into a personal diary thing, it might revolve around design and web topics. It could become a hybrid of both, or it could become something completely different. Maybe I’ll end up writing in German instead of English. I won’t try too hard to fix my grammar mistakes — grammar mistakes are here to stay.
I quickly built this minimalist website with not more functionality than necessary for a simple blog. It is based on my favorite CMS, Kirby, and due to this system’s flexibility, I can always add features and rework both frontend and backend. So, let’s say, if I decide I want to have categories for my blog entries, I can simply include this functionality later.
Nothing you can see or read here is carved in stone. Everything’s a process.
